How to Strategically Create and Repurpose Craveable Content

Creating new and exciting content to share with your audience is essential in today's digital world.

But do you know what else is crucial?

Learning how to repurpose that content, engaging with your audience, and executing an integrated social media strategy.

These three skills will elevate your brand and take you from unknown to unforgettable.

I recently sat down with Anya Razina, the host of Restream.io's show, Friday Lives. Restream.io is an incredible tool that every content creator should know about. It allows you to broadcast live video to 30+ social platforms... at the same time. That's crucial for your brand!

Anya and I talked about my favorite life hacks and pro tips for social media strategists, marketers, and live streamers.

When you start incorporating these ideas in your content and expanding your digital footprint, I promise your online presence will shine.

What is the journey for a brand to go from unknown to unforgettable?

There are a few steps you need to take if you want to make your brand or business unforgettable:

First, you have to be willing to take risks.

When you're courageous and try new things, the sky's the limit for your brand. During my time in the agency trenches, we encouraged clients to allocate hours towards new creative projects.

Experiment with Stories, try livestreaming, reach out to micro-influencers…

Second, always pay attention to what's happening with your viewers and consumers.

As marketers, it's imperative to pay attention to the shift in consumer behavior. How does your audience consume content online? What type of content are they interested in?

One of the benefits of livestreaming is that engagement is generally higher than any other type of content that you post on Facebook. That’s an opportunity for brands to nurture their loyal fans and comb through the comments for feedback that can tie back to their overarching content strategy.

Finally, experiment!

Be open to testing different tools and platforms until you find what works best for you, your brand, and your audience.

Think TikTok is only for teens and can’t drive revenue? Test it.

As a strategist, I love deconstructing campaigns. When others look at a platform and highlights its limitations, I keep an eye out for content creators and how they’re turning those limitations into creative opportunities.

How to elevate your social media strategy, engage with your audience, and repurpose content.

Anya asked some great questions during the interview and I want to highlight a few of my favorites.

How many tools do social media professionals need to keep up with these days? What are the three essential ones?

There are hundreds of tools available for content creators and social media strategists. I like to compare it to cooking!

When you walk into your kitchen, you have so many utensils, pots, and pans that you can use.

But what are you cooking? What essentials do you need to make savory dish? What tools do you need to make everyone gather around and ask for seconds?

You can apply the same concept to your content. Once you determine what content your audience wants to see, you can figure out how to share that content with them.

Then, after some trial and error with different tools and programs, you can decide what you need as a social media strategist.

As for my three essentials, you first need a way to design your content and creative assets.

Easil is the drag-and-drop design tool that empowers your whole team to create visual content so good, it looks like a pro designed it.

When I met Annette McDonald from Easil at Social Media Marketing World a few years back, it was like love at first sight. The platform is so easy to use and the designs are head and shoulders above everything else that I’ve seen out there.

In fact, there’s a reason why I partnered with Easil for the Leap Into Live Streaming. We knew that creating social media assets for 30+ speakers was a huge undertaking but Annette’s team was able to create templates for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Stories, etc. that got audiences to slow their scroll.

Next, you need a tool to schedule your content. You need a way to share your ideas throughout the day and in advance, without actually having to live on social media 24/7.

You can publish, schedule, or queue to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram all from one place. Agorapulse allows you to know at a glance what needs to be taken care of across your social networks.

Finally, find a way to monitor and listen to conversations. This is crucial to figure out what your audience thinks about your content! What kind of feedback are you getting?

Does it take time to "train" your social followers to show up to your live streams?

My number one piece of advice to get your followers to watch your live streams and be engaged with the conversation is pre-promotion!

Pre-promotion is essential when you are marketing and promoting your shows. When you tease the upcoming content, you get the conversation started early.

Your audience will start asking questions about what you're teasing, and they'll come to the live stream ready to have a discussion.

One of my favorite ways to tease new content is by showing the behind-the-scenes work as I prepare for a new video or project. It's a great way to pique my audience's curiosity and by doing so, I create an open loop with my viewers.

Another advantage of pre-promotion is by creating a Facebook event or an Eventable "Add to Calendar" button so your audience can save the upcoming event, be notified before you go live, and even watch the replay.

Do you think about your content differently when you are planning to repurpose it?

When I create new content, there are two things I keep in mind.

First, I ask myself if the content is something I can use year-round. This is called an Evergreen Content Strategy.

With this strategy, I can take one video and repurpose it in 94 different ways. That means for the next 94 Mondays I have content to share. From just one video!

Want to learn even more about how to repurpose your content in 94 different ways? Read all about it in my article for Entrepreneur!

The second strategy I use to repurpose my content is for promotional or seasonal topics. For example, I just created my 2020 Holiday Gift Guide. Although this content isn't Evergreen, I can promote it during the busiest shopping season.

Don't make the mistake of sharing holiday content for one week in December. Repurpose and share that content throughout the entire months of November and December!

It's possible to repurpose any type of content in so many different ways.
